This is one of the best films I've ever seen, fantastic performances by fledgeling actors now Hollywood stars! Super cute Cherry! And 'Stay Gold' has to be one of the best ever songs from a film!

As Johnny (Macchio) huddles against his pal Ponyboy (Howell), he speaks of a world without pain - somewhere over the elusive rainbow. They are 'greasers' at odds with the 'socs'. He has only a brutal home to go to, Ponyboy has loving brothers. When they run away after a confrontation and hide in a church, Dallas (Dillon) helps them - only to be gunned down, bringing the gang rivalry to some conclusion.
Coppola's dream version of S E Hinton's popular novelette is cast with the stars of tomorrow and takes us to the other side of that rainbow, while its companion piece Rumble Fish stays on the dark side of the moon.
