Justin McLeod has been living the life of a reculse for seven years, ever since his face was horribly disfigured. Known as "Hamburger Head" to the locals, he's the subject of many rumors and wild stories. I loved this movie! Excellent performances from Mel Gibson and Nick Stahl as the young boy. A very touching tale of a friendship that outsiders want to destroy because they don't like it. I must admit I had a tear in my eye at the end!

For his well-regarded directorial debut Mel Gibson chose this emotive tale of Justin "Hamburger Head" McLeod, a former teacher who's face is disfigured from an explosive car crash years earlier. A boy was burned to death in this accident which resulted in McLeod being convicted for involuntary manslaughter. Many also wrongly suspect him of paedophilia. He now lives a secluded life, keeping visitors at bay with his Alsation dog.
