Timmy Robinson's best friend in the whole wide world is a six-foot tall rotting zombie named Fido. But when FIDO eats the next-door neighbor, Mom and Dad hit the roof, and Timmy has to go to the ends of the earth to keep Fido a part of the family. A boy-and-his-dog movie for grown ups, "FIDO" will rip your heart out.
Bland and empty
I had really high hopes for this, but it doesn't ever achieve any level of greatness or even mild interest - a great premise wasted by a lack of other ideas. It just becomes very twee and slow very quickly.
It's also just not that funny - sly gags at 50s Americana, propriety and the press wear thin after about two minutes. Kudos should be given for trying to do something new with zombie genre, but when the result is mediocre points should be taken away. For zombie comedy, stick with Shaun Of The Dead.
Fido - down boy!
The synopsis sounded so promising - the main story following a young boy in and alternate 50's America where every to-do family has it's own domesticated zombie.
Unfortunately it turned out to be just a rather poor mix of 'Day of the Dead' and 'Sean of the Dead' with elements of 'Brain Dead' (lots of dead!). The story didn't really go anywhere interesting. You had the obvious 'zombie-helps-kid-out-of-several-scrapes' before you were shown that the once bad zombie really has a heart, and then it trails off to a slightly disappointing few scenes.
