Embracing Walt Disney's original vision for a feature-length ?extravaganza? of sight and sound, a whole new generation of Disney animators and film makers push the boundaries of the medi... um and their imagination to present 'FANTASIA 2000'.
This all-new film begins where its predecessor, 'FANTASIA', left off, with seven completely new segments and the return of one favourite - Mickey Mouse in the 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice'.

Like its predecessor, Fantasia 2000 offers a plotless string of beautifully animated vignettes set to music; unlike its predecessor it's a good deal shorter and far less tedious for it. A bunch of stars introduce the diverse sequences, although the highlights are the ones featuring old favourites - Donald Duck leading the animals into Noah's Ark to the strains of 'Pomp and Circumstance', and the return of Mickey Mouse in 'The Sorcerer's Apprentice', cleaned up for a repeat performance. Initially shown exclusively in IMAX big-screen format, so patrons could take full advantage of its stunning visuals.
Not anywhere as good as the original!
The original Fantasia has always been one of my favorite movies, so I was very excited when Disney decided to release a new 'using modern animation techniques' Fantasia. I found this version rather boring, lacking in excitement, and very tedious in parts. It still had some fun parts, but nothing near the excitement (and I went back to rewatch the original, to see if something had changed in my age makeup) as the original. A poor job by Disney.
